Dorothy Hill Raines

Dorothy Hill Raines, 78, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Ervin Raines died Friday, January 11, 2019. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends Monday, January 14, 2019 in the North Area Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Dorothy was born December 16, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Richie Joseph Smoak Sr.and the late Mildred Wallace Smoak. She was a graduate of Chicora High School and a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Edward Hill, Jr. (Karen Rinehart) of Ladson, SC and Lawrence "Richie" Hill of North Charleston, SC; two daughters, Terri Hill Owens (Greg) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Cindy Hill Tims (Jeff) of Summerville, SC; brother, Richie J. Smoak Jr. (Carol) of Pembroke Pines, FL; sister, Julia Smoak Boykin of Dillon, SC; five grandchildren, Gregory Madison Jones II, Ashley Hill Rinehart, Brian Keith Hill, Sadie Lynn Hill and Charles Edward Hill, III; great grandson, Bishop Canady; nephew, Joseph "Joey" Boykin (Julia) of Dillon, SC; and many treasured nieces and nephews and cousins.
