Dorothy A. Webster Pike, 94, died Monday Dec 10, 2018.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral services Saturday, Dec 15, 2018 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Rd, North Charleston, SC. Visitation at 11:00 am and services at noon. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston.
Dorothy (Dottie) was born Oct 22, 1924 to William Nelson Webster and Mary Miller Webster Hallman in Norristown, PA. After graduating in 1942 from Collegeville/Trappe High School, she enrolled in the nursing program at Byrn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA. and her senior year she joined the Army Cadet Nurse Corps. The last 6 months of her training was at the McGuire Hospital in Richmond, VA (the Amputee Center for the East Coast during WW2). The facility is now called Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.Dorothy was married to John C. Pike, a Navy veteran. While he served, she followed him from port to port making a home for him and their daughter Linda. She kept busy with Eastern Star, Girl Scouts and Red Cross. They were married for over 60 yrs.In 1966 she took refresher training at MUSC, received her SC Registered Nurse license and then worked for 14 years at Westvaco. During that time she became a certified EMT and coordinated Red Cross blood drives.
She leaves behind a daughter Linda Taylor (Larry), 2 grandchildren Kim Riney, Rich Riney (Tamelin) and 4 great grands: Trever Riney, Carsyn Riney, Hayden George and Abby George. Also her niece Pat Cardwell (Wayne) from Mayodan, NC and special family friends Linda and Obie Warren.
Special thanks to the staff at Summit Place of Daniel Island Assisted Living and caretakers at NHC nursing home. Both facilities were so special to Dottie.
