Clyde was born September 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Jess Miller and Martha E. Heidt Miller. She grew up in Charleston, SC and attended the St. Patrick Parochial School and graduated from Bishop England High School in 1950. Her first work experience was as a secretary for the Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Charleston, as she loved their focus and support for unwed mothers and adoption programs. Clyde also took positions as a professional legal secretary for various firms in Charleston and North Charleston. She spent many years as the secretary for Judge Casper Padgett. She met Don Knudsen, a sailor from Marietta, MN, who was stationed in Charleston during the Korean War. They were married on February 24, 1954 after two months of courtship, before Don had to ship out for service. Don and Clyde loved their life together and the time spent with family and friends. She loved her morning paper, with her morning coffee and the daily Crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for being a woman of strong belief in her faith and her family.
She is survived by four children: Donald Dale Knudsen, Jr. (Liz), Kris Knudsen (Phyllis), Dahle Knudsen Feagin and Carol Knudsen Freeman (David); nine grandchildren: Catherine Knudsen Sandifer, Jerry Feagin, Jr., Dale Feagin (Holly), Elizabeth Blaisdell (Justin), Beau Freeman (Allison), Andrew Knudsen (Lindsay), Allison Knudsen (Nasser Qadri), Stephen Knudsen (Diana) and Chris Stum; 14 great-grandchildren (and one on the way!); one sister, Rosemary Lipe; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Miller, BJ Miller and Dorothy Redepenning.
