Dorothy Leona Haselden Fort, 87, of Holly Springs, MS, formerly of McClellanville, SC passed away on March 4, 2014. She was born in Shulerville, S.C. on July 24, 1926 to the late William Genie Haselden and Minnie Exelma Wyndham Haselden. Leona and her husband J. W. Fort, Jr. operated a grocery store in McClellanville for many years, where they were members of the McClellanville Baptist Church. She was the loving and devoted matriarch of a large family, which she considered her most important role in life. She is survived by her five daughters: Janice Faye Donnelly (Toby) of Holly Springs, MS; Terry Cumbee (Jimmy) of Walterboro, S.C.; Glenda Blakely (Bill) of Hanahan, S.C.; Candy Smoak (Clark) of McClellanville, S.C.; and Dottie Reed (Rusty) of Columbia, S.C. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Wilmot Haselden, Robert Haselden, and Edward Haselden; and her sisters Mary Palermo, Harriet "Senie" Litchfield Van Ness, and Gertrude Rivers. She was also predeceased by her husband of fifty years, James Walton Fort, Jr., and one grandchild, Jamie Cumbee. The family will receive friends on Monday March 10, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm in Stuhr's Mt. Pleasant Chapel. Burial will follow at the McClellanville Baptist Church Memorial Gardens located on Society Road, McClellanville, S.C.
