Dorothy Ledere Conner Flynn, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, loving wife of the late Henry Clifton Flynn, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her beloved Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Rd, Charleston, SC 29407, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Dorothy was born on November 18, 1933 in Athens, Tennessee. She then moved to Waycross, Georgia, which she considered to be her home. She was the daughter of the late Lott Anderson Conner and Elsie Patterson Conner. Dorothy moved to Charleston in 1956 to work for the Citizens and Southern Bank. After marrying, she was a devoted mother to her girls, ran a catering business with her sister-in-law, Wilma, sewed beautiful clothes and draperies for family and friends, and was co-owner of Flynn’s Antiques in the Charleston Market. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. In her later years, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Miller (Randy) and Jane Fralix (Herbie); grandchildren, Craig Clifton Miller, Elizabeth Miller Smiley (Ben), Patterson Fralix Wright (Seth); Anna Grace Miller, Payton Ledere Fralix, and Henry Preston Fralix; many nieces and nephews; and several precious great-grand pets that she adored.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Lowell Conner, Hoyt Conner, Cleo Funderburk, Lena Griffin, James Thomas Conner, Harvey Conner, Harley Conner and Jessie Lee Simmons.
