Dorothy Cook Cease, 83, of Hanahan, SC, widow of Charlie Lee Cease died Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 3:00 p.m. The entombment will be private. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service starts at 3:00 p.m.
Dorothy was born April 11, 1933 in Georgia, daughter of the late William Perry Cook and Lottie Bernice Clark Cook. She owned Bridal House of Charleston and was also a realtor. Dorothy was active in her community having served on Hanahan City Council, she worked diligently in the PTA and started a reading program at Fishburne Elementary. She was a member of Christ Sanctified Holy Church, where she was very active in her youth.
She is survived by three children: Robin Cease Halbig (John) of Hanahan, SC, Michael Cease of Goose Creek, SC, and Sherrie Cease of Hanahan, SC; eleven grandchildren: Justin Todd, Brandon Todd, Ashley Todd Bennett, Alison Abbott, Christin Cease, Jason Halbig, Ryan Halbig, Caleb Halbig, Jordan Halbig, David Barker, and Jake Barker; and great-grandchildren:, Elijah Bennett, Desmond Todd and Oliver Todd.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, parents and two siblings, Lottie Mae Oliver, and William Cook.
