Dorothy Vyonne Kinard Bass, of North Charleston, S.C., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Theron Bass Jr. We, her family, grieve at her passing, but we rejoice in her release from earthly suffering to the joy and peace of her Heavenly Father.
Mrs. Bass, who was 95, was born March 21st, 1927, in North Charleston, S.C. and was a daughter of the late Marion Redman Kinard and Gertrude Driggers Kinard. Dot was very dedicated to her family and was a homemaker and excellent Southern cook. She was also an avid gardener and could make any plant thrive. As a member of Portside Baptist Church, she was always in charge of making the banana pudding for most church functions. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Dot is survived by two sons: Arthur Theron Bass III (Ellen) and Glenn Eugene Bass; one grandson: Kevin Bass (Stephanie); three great grandchildren: Christopher, Catherine, and Charlotte Bass. She was preceded in death by another grandson: Christopher Scott Bass; and a daughter-in-law: Pam Bass (Glenn) and five siblings: Allen Kinard, Herbert Kinard, Willard Kinard, Margaret K. Singletary Peagler, and Mildred K. Howard.
Her Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 13th at 1:45 P.M. in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel at 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston. The family will gather with friends after the conclusion of the services. Interment will be for immediate family only, at 1:00 P.M., at Carolina Memorial Park on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
