Doris Dann White, 88, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on January 26, 2021 after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. Doris was born 12/21/1932 in Brooklyn, NY. She spent her lifetime devoted to nursing, obtaining her nursing certification from Flushing Hospital in Queens, NY, BS from St Francis in Brooklyn and Masters from NY Tech. She had a nursing career that spanned 62 years. Her favorite years were as a delivery room nurse working with moms and babies. In the later part of her career she worked at Navcare in North Charleston and finally as a school nurse at College of Charleston working well into her 80's before retirement.
Doris was married in 1955 to the love of her life, George White, until his death in 2018. Doris and George loved to travel in their camper visiting family and friends across the US, and for 28 years they traveled to all the ball room dancing events that they could find, dancing as long as their knees allowed. Doris and George finished out their lives together living in a North Charleston retirement community where Doris helped charter an organization for retired medical professionals and a successful scholarship fund for local medical professional students.
Doris is survived by five children, George, Steve (Tish), Greg (Martha), Claire (Ralph), Dianna (Darren); six grandchildren, Greg(Amber), David, Alden (Audrey), Josephine, Shayna, John; two great grandchildren, Blair, Quinn, a sister Mary(Jim) and brother Chuck (Faith).
