Doris Irene Solt

Doris Irene Veronne Solt, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Jasper E. Solt, Jr. entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Saturday June 6, 2015 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. West Ashley CHAPEL.

Doris was born August 2, 1927 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Veronne and Mary Reeves Veronne Jacques. Part of her childhood was spent at the Charleston Orphan House before going to live with her grandmother. Doris sang on the "Juvenile Jamboree Show" on Saturday mornings which was part of WCSC radio programming when it was located in the Francis Marion Hotel. She worked at the Past Time Amusement Company which operated local movie theaters. Doris never met a stranger and loved talking to everyone. She was a proud mother and grandmother who lived vicariously through their lives. She enjoyed going to the beach, boating to Dewees Island for family picnics, and flower gardening.

She is survived by her son, Jasper E. Solt, III of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Joyce Solt McCreight and her husband William "Ace" of Santee, SC; four grandchildren: Chad E. West and his wife Audrey, Jason E. Solt, Skipper M. McCreight and Sydney M. Solt.
