Entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 25, 2011, Doris Redford Shriver, widow of William H. Shriver, Jr. Residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, Friday, January 28, 2011at1 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel this Thursday evening, January 27, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Born August 27, 1925 in Richmond, Virginia, Doris was the daughter of Benjamin H. Redford and Gertrude Knight Redford. She was a retired comptroller with Albright and Wilson and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 112 for 47 years. She was the oldest continuing member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son: Ricky Shriver and wife Sheila of Charleston; 2 daughters: Darlene Shriver of Columbia, SC and Barbara Ann Doan of N. Charleston; a brother: Melvin Redford of N. Charleston; 3 sisters: Elsie Tant of N. Charleston, Lois Parrott of Florence, SC and Betty Garrett of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren: Ray Thompkins and wife Shannon, Ronnie Thompkins and wife Kim, Danielle LeMacks and husband George and Byron Doan, Jr.; 7 great grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
