Doris Williamson Dieter Royem

July 22, 1922 — December 26, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 26, 2010, Doris Williamson Dieter Royem, widow of Col. Robert Louis Royem, Jr.USAF (Ret.). Residence, Folly Beach, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in Grace Episcopal Church, Friday December 31, 2010, at eleven am. The family will receive friends Thursday from five to seven o'clock in J.HENRY STUHR DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.


Doris was born July 22, 1922 in Mechanicsville, SC, the daughter of James Clarence Williamson and May Winters Williamson. She was the cherished mother of four, the dear little sister of six, a beloved wife and the best friend of many. She served as a Navy Nurse during World War II, and worked part time at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA while raising her children.  She then earned her Master's Degree from the University Of South Carolina College Of Nursing and worked for ten years at USC as a Nurse Educator.


She is survived by her daughters: Rachel Williamson Dieter of Lexington, SC and Christine Dieter Wilkerson of Folly Beach, SC, son: Paul Lucas Dieter of St. Paul, MN, step-daughter: Christine McVicar of Lake Worth, FL, step-son: Robert Thomas Royem of Lake Worth, FL, six grandchildren, one great grandson, and sister: Mildred Williamson Kirven. She was predeceased by her son George Herman Dieter, III and step-daughter Molly Elizabeth Royem.
