Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of June 1, 2010, Doris Blackmon Gaylard of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of George B. Gaylard. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Saturday, June 5, 2010, at two o'clock. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Saturday from one o'clock until time of service. Memorials may be made to Fort Johnson Baptist Church, 1473 Camp Road, James Island, SC 29412. Mrs. Gaylard was born on May 15, 1924, in Bethune, South Carolina, daughter of the late Cicero Pyrl Blackmon and the late Ada Estridge Blackmon. She attended Fort Johnson Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith and Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gaylard was a retired civil service Clerk Supervisor. Surviving are a daughter, Esther Jan Lightsey and husband Elvin of Naugatuck, CT; two step-daughters, Cheryl Gaylard Creach and husband Ken of North Charleston, Susan Marie Gaylard of James Island; a step-son, Ricky Allen Gaylard and wife Anne of James Island; a step daughter-in-law, Sue Gaylard of James Island; two grandchildren, Stephen George Lightsey and Michael Ross Lightsey; and 13 step-grandchildren. Mrs. Gaylard was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters and a step-son, Randy Gaylard.
