Doris Virginia Cody Forton, 89, widow of Master Chief H. E. (Joe) Forton, US Navy (Ret.), of North Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 31, 2016. Funeral service and burial will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Doris was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 6, 1926 to the late Arthur Cody, Sr. and Ruby Vereen Cody. She was a life long Episcopalian and a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Summerville, SC.She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela F. Caldwell (Bill) and Anitra F. Brown (Edmonds), two grandsons: Brad Caldwell (Tracey) and Joey Gregory (Tiffany); three granddaughters, Stacie C. Ard (Robbie), Audra Barefoot (Doug), and Molly B. Bowden (Glenn); ten great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers: Earl A. Cody, Sr., The Rev. Arthur Cody, Jr., and Gruver Cody; two sisters, Ruby C. Kennedy and Mildred C. Lucree; two great-grandchildren: Tyler Caldwell and Codey Gregory.
