Entered into eternal rest on the evening of June 22, 2010, Doris Fizer Derrick, widow of Billy S. Derrick. Residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at Coastal Shores Baptist Church, 8310 Dorchester Road, Friday, June 25, 2010, at eleven o'clock. Committal services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Inc., Easley, SC, Saturday morning at eleven o'clock. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL this Thursday evening from six until eight o'clock.
Mrs. Derrick was born on April 6, 1928 in Charleston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Dewey and Verna Kiger Fizer. She was a member of Coastal Shores Baptist Church, a homemaker and enjoyed bowling for more than 45 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Lathrop of Portland, ME and Belva Leyh of Mount Pleasant; four sisters, Charlotte Rich of Martinsburg, WV, Julia Snodgrass of Manasses, VA, Jewell Parker of Talbott, TN, and Diane Nash of Morehead City, NC; two brothers, Robert Fizer of East Liverpool, OH and Joe Fizer of Elkview, WV; seven grandchildren, Dale Parker of North Charleston, Lorei Burn of Atlanta, GA, John Parker of North Charleston, Allie Rogers of Givans Ferry, SC, Michelle Fith of Atlanta, GA, Stuart Lathrop, Jr. of Brayenton, FL, Jennifer Wildes of Windham, ME; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Derrick was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Burn of Marion, NC; a sister, Margie Corffee of Leon, WV; three brothers, William Fizer of Blue Creek, WV, Tom Fizer of Mecungie, PA, and Bernard Fizer of Blue Creek, WV.
