Dora Slotchiver Rovick

May 18, 1922 — June 2, 2015

Dora Slotchiver Rovick, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Herbert M. Rovick, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held graveside Thursday, June 4, 2015 in Emanu-El Cemetery, Sycamore Avenue, Maryville at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.

Dora was born May 18, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Sam Slotchiver and Lena Kalinsky Slotchiver. She was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School and was a co-owner of George's Loan and Music Company. She loved the arts and was an avid patron of the Charleston Concert Association. Dora was a member Synagogue Emanu-El and the Sisterhood and Hadassah. She was always generous and would go beyond the call to help others. Her kindness touched all and she made a friend everywhere she went. She had a wonderful relationship with all of her family and kept them closest to her heart.

In addition to her husband, Herbert, she is survived by her sons, Jay M. Rovick (Arlene) and Alan N. Rovick (Cathy), both of Charleston, SC; 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Greg, Lauren, Abby, Daniel, and Ethan; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bess S. Cotton of Macon, GA; and her brother, Irvin J. Slotchiver (Carol) of Charleston, SC.

Memorials may be made to Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 or to a Hospice of one's choice.
