Dora Ridgill Kinsey, 82, of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, wife of Dr. Norman Frank Kinsey, Sr. died Saturday, June 4, 2016 after a brief illness. Her memorial celebration will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Born January 18, 1934 in Clarendon County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Lee Ridgill, Sr. and the late Ruth Ward Ridgill.
She was a 1952 graduate of Manning High School and a 1957 graduate of MUSC School of Nursing. Dora enjoyed her profession as a psychiatric nurse in Columbia, SC and Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver, CO.
The devoted wife of Dr. Norman Frank Kinsey, Sr., Dora dedicated countless hours of her time to the Hartsville, SC community, where the family resided from 1968 until 1997.
She enjoyed literature, the arts, coastal living, spectator sports at The Citadel, entertaining friends, and most importantly spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Katherine Kinsey Ogburn (Derial) of Lugoff, SC; son, Norman Frank Kinsey, Jr. (Theresa) of Irmo, SC; four grandchildren, Trey (Brittany), Kinsey, Mary Katherine, and Stormy; sister, Doris Ridgill Tatum (Ben); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Bob Ridgill, James Ridgill, Jr., and Ruby Ridgill.
