Dora Margaret Fogle Harris, 95, of Mount Pleasant, SC, widow of David Samuel Harris, Jr., entered into eternal rest Friday, August 7, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel one hour prior to the service.
Dora was born January 23, 1920, in Hartsville, SC, a daughter of the late Ruby Kathleen Corbett Fogle and the late Willie Siftly Fogle. She attended school in Hartsville and at Winthrop College. As a college sophomore, she was elected Miss Winthrop, and she was Miss Summerville in the 1940 Azalea Festival. She was retired from the S.C. State Ports Authority. For decades, she was an active member of the Ashley River Baptist Church, serving as a children's Sunday School teacher and department head, working with youth, singing in the adult and senior choirs, and participating in the seniors group.
She is survived by four children: Cathy Samuels (Keith) of Pensacola, FL, Connie Snyder (Jim) of Charleston, SC, David "Chip" Harris (Lynn) of Rock Hill, SC, and Brian Harris (Kim) of Denver, CO; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years and by her sister, Elinor Fogle Harrison.
