Donna Rae Tanner

Donna Rae Meier Tanner, 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Julian Harvey Tanner, Sr., entered into eternal rest Friday, April 18, 2014 from complications following surgery. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 21, 2014, in Old St. Andrews Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Road, at 1:00 pm. Burial services will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC. The family will receive friends Sunday in J.HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Donna was born July 22, 1934 in North English, Iowa, daughter of the late Francis X. Meier and the late Melba Rounsabille Meier. She was a District Manager with Avon and a member of the D.O.E. of the Elk's Lodge #242.

She is survived by her four sons, Michael O'Neale (Sandra) of Charleston, SC, John J. O'Neale (Gayle) of Columbia, SC, Mark A. Tanner (Beth) of Summerville, SC and Jody H. Tanner, Jr. of FL; daughters, Kathleen Christiansen (John) of Tampa, FL, Cynthia T. Dix (Danny) of Charleston, SC and Karen T. Brown (Louie) of Greenwood, SC; four sisters, Shelva King, Jan Aquirra, Mary Anne Honzik and Kay Dennis; grandchildren, Kevin O'Neale, Heather Britton (Brandon), Allison Mackey (Jason), Erica Britton (Scott), David Floyd, Jr. (Kelley), Meradith Brown, Heather Davis (Jon), Chad Brown (Candice), Anna Grace Tanner, Ethan Tanner, Ashton Tanner, Chris Gibson, Courtenay Smith (Jason) and Daniel Dix (Kelly); fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kenneth Alba. Donna is predeceased in death by her son, Danny O'Neale and sister, Helen Herath.
