Donna Lynn Pounder LeBlanc

Donna Lynn Pounder LeBlanc, 77, passed from this life on Friday, March 17, 2023 at her residence in Pineville, Louisiana.

Donna loved reading and books and began working in the Cooper River Memorial Library in North Charleston, SC when she was a young teenager. She attended Winthrop College after high school, but unsure of where her talents would take her, she earned a degree from Rice Business College and worked as a professional secretary at Charleston Rubber Company, Avco Lycoming Company, and finally at the Medical University of SC. She moved from the Charleston area and settled in Louisiana where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Science from Northwestern State University. Following her graduation, she began her 32-year career with the Rapides Parish Library system. She worked first in the Alexandria branch and, for the last 20 years of her career, at the Rapides Parish Library, Martin Branch in Pineville, Louisiana. Donna loved her career with the library system and made friends with many of her clients. She especially loved her work with the children of the area. She had groups of children for whom she made the time to visit and read to at their schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory Donald Pounder and Lorraine Marie Dapogny Pounder. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Mary Pounder Bebensee (Mark); brothers, Donald B. Pounder (Donna Jo) and Douglas E. Pounder (Lona). She had three nieces and four nephews, six grand nephews, and numerous other friends and family. Until her illness took her memory away, Donna was the one you could count on to remember everyone’s birthday or anniversary and any other special occasion or holiday with greeting cards and telephone calls. She will be missed all of us, but especially by her life-partner, Ronald Rachal, who took amazing care of her from the onset of her illness and was at her side continually until she passed away.

Family and friends are invited to attend Donna’s funeral services at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, SC with interment following at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel.
