Donna Marie Caldwell Kurtz, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Richard R. Kurtz, died Saturday, December 30, 2017. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 5, 2018, in Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant at 11:00 am. Interment in Quantico National Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends in the J. HENRY STUHR., INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Donna was born February 2, 1936 in Parsons, Kansas, daughter of the late Floyd W. Caldwell and Rose Jungels Caldwell. She was a graduate of Creighton University and worked as a middle school math teacher. She also owned and managed "Nature's Way," a health foods store in Woodbridge, VA for over 10 years. She was a very artistic and talented seamstress, creating beautiful hats and quilts. Her vivacious personality was enjoyed by all she came in contact with, especially those with whom she volunteered in church and the community. She loved happy hours and oyster roasts and serving as a nursing home volunteer. She was a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and most recently a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, where she served in the senior ministry.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine A. Vollmer (Bill) of Chesapeake, VA; and her sons, Kevin R. Kurtz (Misty) of Tampa, FL, Brian D. Kurtz (Janet) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Stephen M. Kurtz (Julia) of Fairfax, VA; ten grandchildren, Christopher C. Murphy, Erin P. Chapman, Nathan S. Kurtz, Brett R. Kurtz, James W. Kurtz, Jeanna M. Kurtz, Elizabeth D. Kurtz, Evelyn R. Kurtz, Emma C. Kurtz, and Madison I. Kurtz. .
