Donna W. Jenderny, 72, wife of the late Richard H. Jenderny, of Mount Pleasant, SC, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 30, 2022. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 6:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Tuesday, October 4, from 5:00 pm until time of the service.
Donna was born on December 30, 1949 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She was the second of four children born to the late John George Werz and the late Rita Elizabeth Werz.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Kelley and her husband, Patrick, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brothers, John Werz and Phil Werz of North Carolina; and sister Kathleen Thompson of North Carolina.
Donna was a woman of many talents. Whether it was working for the FBI in Washington DC, managing planes as an air traffic controller at the Bismarck, ND Tower, working as a software engineer for Lockheed Martin for over 20 years in Eagan, MN and Rockville, MD, or working as an administrative assistant at Wando High School, she always gave 110%. She worked tirelessly her entire career while also being a full time wife and mom.
Donna was an extremely loving and supportive wife and mother. She was happily married to her best friend, Rick, for 27 years. Their daughter was her pride and joy in life. They did everything together from playing golf, traveling the world, and cheering on their Clemson Tigers. Traveling back to Donna’s birth country of Cuba and Sara’s birth country of India were two of their favorite trips together, as well as their Mediterranean cruise with Rick. When Donna wasn’t on the golf course or cruising the world, you could find her creating her next masterpiece in her stained glass workshop.
The family would like to thank Dr. Udayan Guha and his team of doctors, nurses, and staff at The National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health for allowing Donna to be part of the lung cancer clinical trial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The National Cancer Institute with a letter indicating donation to be used for thoracic cancer research: Director, National Cancer Institute, Building 31 Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892.
