Donna Grace Gregory, 83, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at home on March 11, 2024.
Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and Aunt.
She is survived by her loving husband Fred Gregory, cherished by her children Rhonda (Craig) Goldberg, Julia (Jim) Shaw, Roxanne (Michael) Turner and son-in-law, Richard Schafer III. Loved dearly by her grandchildren Hannah (Justin) Hosey, Jordon Schafer, Sarah Sharp, Bailey Schafer, Joshua Schafer, Riley Schafer and Elizabeth Goldberg. Donna was blessed to be able to travel to Colorado this past September to meet her new great-grandson, Korban Hosey. She is also survived by her beloved brother John (late Cathy) Haight and his children Mary Ball, Bethany (Vincent) Farrell, and David Haight. Great Aunt to their children Autumn, Harmony, Leilani, Alexis and Vincent IV.
Donna was born to the late H. Roger and Gracie (Chapman) Haight. She grew up in Barker, New York, where her love of music began under Herbert F. Ludwig. Donna had the gift of "perfect pitch" and played her clarinet, bass clarinet and Alto saxophone in the Legion Band of the Tonawandas and the Barker Community Band. Donna and Fred traveled to Sydney, in Australia in 1992 where the Legion Band competed and won a gold medal.
Donna's true love was always God and her family. She lived for them. She was brought up in the West Somerset Baptist Church in Barker, NY and most recently attended Ashley River Baptist Church after moving to Charleston, SC.
Donna's favorite sayings for her children and grandchildren were "Don't forget to say your prayers!" "Are you warm enough ?!!" and "Do your best for Jesus”
Some of her favorite things were playing 5000 Rummy, old maid, making homemade bread and Wendy's hamburgers. NO CHEESE!!
Even though We are sad that she has left us, we take great comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven.
Her Funeral service will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 in the Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
