Donna Tyler DeSantis

Donna Tyler DeSantis, 60, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Michael Anthony DeSantis passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.

Donna was born April 13, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Lamar Owens and the Juanita Graham Owens. She was retired nurse with Mount Pleasant Internal Medicine and a member of the East Cooper Episcopal Church. Donna was a member of the East Cooper Shag Club for which she served as a member of the Social Committee. She was also very active in the Mount Pleasant Senior Center. Donna was known for her caring spirit, focusing on others and their needs rather than herself. She firmly believed in being considerate of others and putting herself last.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifteen years, Michael Anthony DeSantis; her son, Owen Tyler (Kevin Varnadore) of Mount Pleasant, SC; her sister, Denise Teller (Howard) and their daughter, Erin Hanssen of Mount Pleasant, SC; and her brother, Bruce Owens (Marica) and their daughter Taylor Owens and her son, Nathan of Holly Hill, SC. She is also survived by her life-long friend who was like a sister, Nedra Campbell and Donna's God-son, Hayden Campbell and his brother, Madison Campbell. Donna also is survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Glenn Rowland (Chris) and her son, Tommy Glenn (Sarah) and their daughter, Elizabeth.

The family thanks Donna's friends who were there to care and support her. In particular, the family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Beacon Hospice, and in particular, Cami Brayton and Comeletia Jackson. Also deep gratitude is expressed to those gifted with healing and care, Dr. John Mitchell, Dr. Tim West, Dr. Susan Jones, and their various staff members for all the special care provided when needed most.
