Donald Ray Youngbloom, 53, of Charleston, South Carolina, died Monday, April 22, 2013. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm, with a short Service of Remembrance at 7:00 pm, at the Charleston Rifle Club, 2221 Heriot Street, on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Don was born April 8, 1960 in Austin, Texas, son of Dan Moody Youngbloom and the late Laurinda Alice Alford Youngbloom. He was a 1978 graduate of Lanier High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Don was a International Flight Attendant with Continental and United Airlines for 29 1/2 years. He was a member of the Charleston Rifle Club where he was an avid bowler. Don loved to go camping with all his camping family. He never missed a chance to hook up his 40 foot 5th-wheel, build a campfire, and have a margarita.
He is survived by his partner, Judge James B. (Skipper) Gosnell, Jr. of Charleston, SC; his father, Dan Moody Youngbloom of Austin, TX; his brothers, Richard Youngbloom and his wife, Jan of Georgetown, TX, and Kenneth Youngbloom of Austin, TX; his neice, Amanda Brown and her husband, Kendall of Florence, TX and their children Camille, Zane, and Kenna; his niece, Kayla Youngbloom and her finacee, Caleb Brown of Rice, TX; as well as aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. Don is also survived by his two Jack Russell pups, Ashley and Austin.
The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the numerous friends who have loved and supported Don and Skip and to the incredible staff of St. Francis Hospital, who provided compassionate care. Each of you made this time easier for Don, and you are each angels in your own way.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Don's name be made to The Charleston Rifle Club Memorial Fund, 2221 Heriot Street, Charleston, SC 20403.
