Donald Allan Taylor, 60, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018. His funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens where he will be carried and laid to rest by his nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 2:00 pm until time of the service.
Donald was born July 23, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Ruth Dyches Taylor and the late Julian Taylor. A graduate of Wando High School, he worked at his family's business, Taylor's Texaco Station, as a service attendant. He also worked at Detyens Shipyard, Walmart and Patriots Point. He moved to Pennsylvania and returned to Mt. Pleasant in 2015. Donald was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant and attended the East Cooper Senior Daycare. He enjoyed bowling and baseball. Donald was a sweet and gentle soul who loved people.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth D. Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Joan T. Dumont and her husband Roger, who was Donald's loving caregiver, of Mount Pleasant, SC; twin brother, Ronald W. Taylor and his wife Teresa of Huger, SC; grandchildren, Aislynn Gallahar, Jennifer Lareau, and Preston Lareau all of Tamaqua, PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Taylor, brother, Johnny Taylor and niece, Marcey Taylor.
