Donald Joseph Smith, 74, of Charleston, SC, husband of Donna Lee Swisher Smith died Sunday, December 29, 2013. An inurnment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Don was born August 29, 1939 in Oriskany, New York, son of the late Harold Leo Smith and the late Florence Ann Haggas Smith. He served in the United States Army and was a partner with United Masonry of Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Smith of Charleston, SC; three children, Tracy Welsh and her husband, Josh, of Chevy Chase, MD, Roy Alan Lindauer of Alexandria, VA, and Jennifer Sue Smith of Stafford, VA; four grandchildren, Dustin, Evan, Maddi and Sam; two brothers, David Smith and his wife, Linda, of Oriskany, NY and Douglas Smith and his wife, Sue Ellen, of Florida; two sisters Patricia Polivka and her husband, David, of Naperville, IL, and Julie Fortnam and her husband, David, of Oriskany, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joanne Evans.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
