Donald "Don" Wesley Ross, 85, a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and uncle passed on to his Heavenly home on March 3, 2021. The family will receive friends Monday, March 8, 2021 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held graveside Monday in Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive at 1:00 p.m. You may view the service via live stream at the following link, https://youtu.be/CHDUnmdo9k4.
Don was born on July 24, 1935 in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Charlie Clayton Ross and Minnie Baynes Ross. He served faithfully for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring in 1975. Don was a strong Christian man and an active member of the United Pentecostal Church and served in various departments throughout his life. He was known as a true "People Person" showing kindness and love to everyone he met. Don never met a "stranger" and spoke to all he encountered. He loved to laugh and joke with everyone.
Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne Johnson Ross; daughter, Dianne Ross both of Reidsville NC; son, Don "Donnie" Ross of Cross SC; granddaughter, Amber Ross Allen (Mike) of Charleston SC; niece, Edna Earl Talley (James); and nephew, Ronnie Laws all of Reidsville NC. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a niece and nephew.
The family wants to thank all the doctors, nurses, & caregivers of Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina for all the compassion and care given during his stay. He spoke highly of many that attended to his needs.
