Donald Eugene Moore, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from complications of Leukemia. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Don was born on November 6, 1931 in Kingsport, Tennessee, one of four children born to the late James W. Moore and the late Margie Thompson Moore. The family relocated to North Charleston in 1940 and Don graduated from Chicora High School in 1950. Immediately thereafter, he entered the US Air Force and remained until his retirement in 1972 as a Master Sergeant. During his tenure he served in Japan, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and England. Following his military service, Don was employed by the Mount Pleasant Waterworks where he worked another twenty three years. He earned an Associate Degree in Business Management from Trident Technical College before retiring in 1995 as the Financial Service Manager.
Don was a Christian and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant for forty-two years. He was also a member of the Lowcounty Bee Association, the Lowcountry Coin Club, and was a Clemson Master Gardner.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son, Michael Moore; older brother, James W. Moore, Jr.; and infant sister, Laura Margaret Moore.
He is survived by his son, Colin Moore and his wife Kay of Huger, SC; daughter, Donna Wiggins of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Trudy Collins and her husband Norbert of Bowman, SC; five grandchildren: Jessica Moore, Colby Moore, Danielle Moore, Dalton Lambert, and Katherine Lambert.
