Donald Clark McDonald

On November 11, 2024, Veterans Day, Don passed away in Charleston, South Carolina at the age of 70 following a brief illness. He was lovingly surrounded by his daughters and sister.

Don was born in Utica, New York in 1953. With his family, Don moved to five states before graduating from Lawrence High School, in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, in 1971. Upon his high school graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War he served in Cambodia and was a proud Marine.

Following his military career, Don attended Clemson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1977. Shortly thereafter, Don entered the banking and investments field and spent over forty years as a financial advisor, most recently with Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc.

Don was a man of the outdoors and loved spending time with friends and family hunting, fishing, and boating. His zeal for the ocean was evident in his adoration of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina and his beloved Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. His dry wit and love of life will be remembered by all.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Katherine M. Koniditsiotis and her husband Stathis of Greenville, South Carolina, and Elizabeth L. McDonald, of New York, New York, his sister, Christine Dean and her husband Reginald of Fort Myers, Florida, his parents, Morton and Barbara McDonald of Fort Myers, Florida, nephews Blake Dean, Andrew Dean and his wife Anna of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and partner Laura Foerster of Johns Island, South Carolina.

A private funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Nantucket, MA followed by internment at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Nantucket, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held December 14th at 2:00 PM at the Sea Island Yacht Club, 2438 Sea Island Yacht Club Rd, Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina 29487.
