Donald L. Foster

Donald L. Foster, Sr., 81, of Charleston, SC, husband of Anne Schmonsees Foster, died Friday, April 24, 2015. His funeral service will be held at the graveside Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue, at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Donald was born January 27, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late James Foster and the late Olive Gasser Foster. He was a graduate of Rice Business College and a retired accountant. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne; a son, Donald L. Foster, Jr. (Kristi) of Jonesboro, GA; a daughter, Virginia Foster Shipman (Mark) of Hanahan, SC; a brother, Ernest Foster (Shirley) of Toronto, Canada; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Foster of Clearwater, FL; seven grandchildren: Sonya Lawrimore, Ashton Shipman, Lindsay Riollano, Donnie Foster, Jamie Shipman, Dr. Betsy Dudney, and Dr. Eric Embry; and five great-grandhchildren: Austin, Sydney, Eliza, Johnny, and Erik. He was preceded in death by a son, Zachary John Foster; and a brother, James Foster.

Memorials may be made to St. Johannes Lutheran Church, 48 Hasell Street, Charleston, SC 29401 and/or Embrace Hospice, 3640 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, SC 29418.
