Donald Lewis Dye, 63, of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Whitney Whelan Dye entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The family will receive friends Friday November 11, 2022, in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be private.
Don was born December 2, 1958, in Raleigh, North Carolina, son of Theresa Lewis Dye and the late Roy Dye. He was a graduate of Cary High School and the University of North Carolina. He was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel fan and rooted for the Atlanta Braves with passion. He remained close to his friends in Cary; their bond was an important part of his life. Don enjoyed listening to music, playing pool, and being in our yard on the tidal creek. He worked for the Texas Book Company and was the Past President of the SC Association of College Stores. With tenacity, effort, and desire, Don took his territory to million-dollar status and maintained it. He didn’t stop with purchasing books, or selling systems, but ultimately married one of his customers, which was the best sales performance of his career! Don had an ability to cheer up a room, captivate a table, make a performance of a joke, and work a trade show like no other. He did it all with such a modest professionalism. He will be remembered for his work ethic, friendships, and mostly for the way he loved his family.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Whitney; stepdaughter, Caitlyn Stall of Ladson, SC; mother, Theresa Dye of Murrells Inlet, SC; sister, Bonnie Hardin of Murrells Inlet, SC; and nephew, Thomas Worth Hardin, Jr. of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Dye, and grandparents, Reverend Vance Lewis and Mrs. Pearl Lewis, and Hardy and Rose Dye.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
