SCPO Donald E. DuFour, USN (Ret.) 85, of North Charleston, widower of Reunette Lane DuFour died Friday, September 16, 2016. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Donald was born October 11, 1930 in Escanaba, Michigan, son of the late Eldridge DuFour and the late Edith Anderson DuFour. He served in the Korean War while in the United States Army and retired after 24 years in the United States Navy. He was a former General Manager of the Chief Petty Officer's Club at the Charleston Naval Base. Donald was an avid golfer, enjoyed dancing, was a member of a bowling league and attended All Saints Chapel.
He is survived by three children: Janice E. Malone of Biloxi, MS, Craig S. DuFour and Patti D. Hughes, both of North Charleston, SC; four grandchildren who he dearly loved: Jerry Dennis Gailey, III, (Nicole) of White Oak, GA; Donald Lee Thomas (Rachel) of Biloxi, MS; Brooke Hughes Axon (Jay) of Dearing, GA; Thomas Bradley Hughes of Atlanta, GA; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and another great-great-grandchild on the way; two brothers: Eldridge "Junior" DuFour, Jr. (Josephine) of Green Bay, WI and Ronald DuFour (Dolly) of Escanaba, MI; and a sister, Lillian "Chummy" Cartwright of Gladstone, MI.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Craig S. DuFour, Jr., son-in-law, Thomas Hughes; brother, Bobby DuFour; and two sisters, Mary Jane Beauchamp and Dorothy Kress.
