Donald LaRue Davidson, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Lydia Ann Pruitt Davidson, died Friday, March 20, 2015. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Immediately following the funeral service, family and friends are invited to the Davidson home at 116 Beresford Creek Street, Charleston, SC 29492.
Don was born April 21, 1927 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the only child of the late Donald S. Davidson and Sylvia LaRue Davidson. A veteran of the Marine Corps, he was a 1950 graduate of Bucknell University, where he played football and ran track. He worked for Raybestos-Manhatten in Detroit before moving to Charleston in 1979, where he entered the real estate business. Don enjoyed being outdoors, boating and fishing, and playing tennis and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia; his son, Don J. Davidson (Joanne); his daughter, Deborah Davidson; and his step-daughter, Lydia Brooks (Bryan) all of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Ben Davidson, Jenna Davidson, Matt Davidson, and Ellie Brooks; and his beloved golden retriever, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Cunningham Davidson, and his golden retriever, Roxie.
