Donald E. Chambers

Donald Edwin Chambers, M.D., 82, husband of Barbara Ann Snow Chambers of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011. 


 Dr. Chambers' relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service which will be held in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens at a later date.  


Dr. Chambers was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 5, 1928, son of the late Edwin Chambers and Myrtle Edmonds Chambers.  A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's Medical School, Dr. Chambers was a member of AOA Honor Medical Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the Norfolk County Medical Society, and was a guest lecturer with the University of Virginia Medical School and Eastern Virginia Medical School.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Chambers was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. He was an avid sportsman and played on the American Legion National Championship Baseball Team of 1945. 


 Dr. Chambers is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann Snow Chambers; his son, Douglas Evan Chambers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his daughters, Kellie White and her husband, Thornton of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kim Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Cindy Curtis and her husband, Mac of Fairfax Station, VA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Colin White, Jack Curtis, Evan Ann White, Brooke Curtis, Aubree Johnson, and Savannah Johnson; and his sister Sally Stephenson of Cincinnati, OH.  The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2090 Executive Hall Road, Suite 130, Charleston, SC  29407.
