Donald Francis Buckland

Donald Francis Buckland, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Veronica Brennan Buckland entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 8, 2023. His service will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 in the Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Charleston, SC 29414.

Donald was born August 2, 1931 at Newent, England to James and Annie Buckland. He was predeceased by his sisters: Nancy, Dorothy, and Elizabeth; and by his brother, Derek, all of England. Donald is survived by two sons, Keith (Susan) of Fort Pierce, FL and Darrly (Kathy) of Ladson, SC.

Donald was drafted by the Royal Air Force shortly after high school. He served for one and half years. Donald then joined the Metropolitan Police in London, England where he served for two years. In 1953, he emigrated to Canada and was employed by the City of Ottawa.

Donald married Veronica Brennan of Aylmer, Quebec in 1960. Donald and his family emigrated to Charleston, SC where he worked for Family Services until he retirement in 1994. He lost his wife to cancer in 2013.
