Dona Lea Hunt Reid Fanning, 79, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of John Carlyle Reid and Jack Fanning, Jr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 1, 2018. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Union ARP Church Cemetery, Richburg, SC at 4:00 p.m.
Born January 24, 1939 in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Peter Stuart Hunt, Sr., and Zenda Marguerite Long Hunt. She was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church for 50 years and taught preschool. She also taught at Northbridge Baptist Church. She had a strong faith and served as a board member of South Carolina Baptist Ministry of Aging and a board member with the South Carolina Women's Missionary Union.
Dona Lea was a current member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Charleston, and part of Soul searches Sunday school class. She was a MUSC mentor for medical school students, and active with Civitan, and 4-H. She enjoyed her time at The Palms and was part of the Nifty Knitters. Dona Lea was a longtime fan and one of the early IPTAY supporters of her favorite team, Clemson Tigers.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Masterson (Bobby) of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Peter Stuart Hunt, Jr., and William Rogers Hunt (Cindy) both of Charleston, SC; sister, Karen Louise Hunt of Napa, CA; two grandchildren, Anthony Carlyle Masterson and Christian Reid Masterson both of James Island, SC; nieces and nephews, Stuart Hunt (Lisa) of Mt. Pleasant, Jack Crow (Rachael) of Mt. Pleasant, Andrew Reid Crow (Lisa) of Sullivan's Island, Patty Stokes (Mike) of West Ashley, Crystal White (Shane) of Charleston, Candy Acanfora (Jon) of West Ashley, Ashley Boserup (Aaron) of Hanahan; eleven great nieces and nephews, and one great-grand niece, and her Maltapoo, Little Lady.
