Dr. Don Edwin Weitz, DDS, 86 of Charleston, SC, widower of Patricia R. Weitz, entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2012. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cryptside in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel Friday between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Dr. Weitz was born June 24, 1926 in Beaver Falls, PA, the son of Loyal Edwin Weitz and Pauline Davis Weitz. After graduating high school from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1944, he joined the Navy and spent the remainder of World War II aboard a minesweeper in the South Pacific. After the war, he graduated from Pennsylvania State Teachers College at Clarion with a BS in Secondary Education and continued on to the University of Pittsburgh where he received a degree of a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1957. While he was a Resident in oral surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, he met his wife, a registered nurse. Dr. Weitz attended Bethel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter: Susan E. Weitz of Charleston, SC; two sons: Eric L. Weitz and his wife Judy Weitz of Irmo, SC and Karl E. Weitz of Atlanta GA: two grandchildren: Davis E. Weitz and Austin L. Weitz.
