Don William Baxley, Sr., 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 1, 2026. His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel at 12:00 pm, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior.

Don was born December 15, 1935, in Barnwell, South Carolina, son of the late Douglas Baxley and Nadine R. Hesse. Don was an avid member of SCSSA. He enjoyed tinkering on old boats and fixing things up, as well as all kinds of fishing, but especially deep-sea fishing. He spent many years teaching his grandson, Trent, and all of his friends how to make lures and rig bates. He was very involved with his family and so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Don W. Baxley Jr. (Karen) of Lancaster, SC, M. Todd Baxley (Kathy) of Hollywood, SC, and Cissy Baxley Bonifay (Andy) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Chandler B. Kirkley (Donald) and Trent B. Bonifay; great grandchildren, Rhett, Watson, and Lake; and longtime companion, Marleen Alexander; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sonja Lahmeyer Baxley; granddaughter, Bailey Baxley; and siblings, O'Neal Baxley and Joyce Baxley Bradham.

In memory of his granddaughter, memorial donations can be made to Seth's Giving Tree - Bailey's Bucket at www.sethsgivingtree.org, 3344 Greystone Dr., Lancaster, SC 29720.
