Dolores Newman Risher, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Ralph Girvin Risher entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 20, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1519 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.
Dolores was born September 3, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Henry Glover Newman and Irene Crosby Newman. She graduated from Murray Vocational High School and was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dolores enjoyed dancing, bowling, going to the beach, and spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She taught ballet as a senior student with Traynor Ferillo at the Dock Street Theater and performed for the USO in World War II.
She is survived by four sons, Ralph Randy Risher (Deby) of Charleston, SC, Donnie S. Risher (Teresa) of Alpine, UT, Douglas N. Risher (Kathryn) of Hollywood, SC, Richard L. Risher, MD (Cheri) of Georgetown, KY; 17 grandchildren: Randy, Jr., Tabitha, Robby (Michelle), Ryan (Christine), Jessica (TJ), Brittany (Colby), Melissa, Lindsay (Ryan), Taylor (Chelsea), Nicole (resides in Heaven), Allison (Patrick), Lauren (Noah), Kyle, Bryce, Luke, Parker, and Sophie; and 17 great grandchildren: Robby, Jr., Sawyer, Victoria, Gabriel, Isabella, Haylee, Olivia, Grace, Faith, Matthew, Logan, Chloe, Jackson, Charlotte, Morgan, Ava, and Taylor.
