Dolly Norfleet Watson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday April 11, 2019. Born on February 9, 1931, in Newport News Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Gartham Norfleet and Bessie Mae Troublefield Norfleet. Dolly grew up in Charleston, SC where she met and married the love of her life, William Ready Watson Jr. Together they shared an adventurous military life traveling and living many places around the USA and Europe.
Dolly was an accomplished artist and a member of The Charleston Artist Guild and South Carolina Watercolor Society. She was also a Master Gardener and a member of the Snee Farm Garden Club. Dolly was a creative homemaker, gourmet cook and possessed a true gift of Southern Hospitality!
Dolly loved her family and is survived by her sons, Robert Norfleet Watson (Darlene), of Elon, NC and Richard Alan Watson (Tina), of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Robin Watson Levy (Mark), of Mt Pleasant, SC; and daughter-in-law, Joan Bray Watson of Granville, IL.
She was lovingly known as "Wanny" to her grandchildren, Jeni Watson Lewis (Jimmy), Michael James Watson (Jennifer), Christi Watson Patillo (Ward), Rebecca Watson Albrecht (Jonathan), Benjamin Bray Watson (Katie), Andrew William Watson, Emily Faye Watson, Candice Watson Komko, (Johnathon), and Ashley Levy Grow (Brian); great grandchildren, Blake Lewis (Nicole), Blaire Lewis, Mia Patillo, Will Patillo, Emelia Watson, Harrison Watson, Miranda Albrecht, Evelyn Watson, Allyssa Watson, Jackson Grow, Mason Grow, and Felix Watson; and great great grandson, Braxton Lewis. Dolly is also survived by her sister, Bettie Norfleet Wieters of Clemmons, NC; sister-in-law, Ginger H. Norfleet of Chapel Hill, NC; several nieces and nephews; as well as many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ready Watson Jr; son, William Ready Watson III; daughter, Cheryl Anne Watson; brother, Dr. Edward A. Norfleet; sister-in-law, Dorothy V. Watson; brother-in-law, Chanson A. Wieters Sr.; niece, Elizabeth "Beth" N. Wieters; and great granddaughter, Caitlyn M. Albrecht.
A celebration of life for Dolly is planned for Thursday April 18 in the chapel at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Greg Norfleet. The family will receive visitors an hour before the service.
A private burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery attended by family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
