Diane Elizabeth Morgan

October 8, 1942 — April 3, 2024

Diane Elizabeth Morgan

Diane Elizabeth Morgan, 81, of Charleston SC, unexpectedly, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 3, 2024 with her dog “Lucky” by her side till the end.

Diane was an early riser to walk her dogs and have her coffee, she didn’t live for what other people thought of her, she did what she wanted and even broke the rules to get what she wanted. She was hip and stylish with her many purses, belts, hats or hair accessories, jewelry or even her clothes and they all must have “bling". She was adventurous, nosey, full of energy, spoke her mind, funny and sarcastic. She was a force to be reckoned with. She was a fighter during any hard time they went through. She would either be sweet or give an evil look if you didn’t give her what she wanted, especially when it came to shopping. But at the end of the day she was loving and caring for all those around her. To say that Diane was a very good wife, good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family member and friend, would be an understatement. She was the glue and did for everyone family or friend. Her personality was touched by all.

Diane was born in Lewiston, Maine on October 8, 1942. She was 11 when she met a young boy at a wedding, both their parents made them go to. They became pen pals and kept in touch over time. Diane’s family later moved to Florida. Whereas fate would have it, that boy she kept in touch with was in Florida for sonar school, which hadn’t started yet. He used a nickel to call her and her family let him stay until school started, this led to the start of their story. Diane graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1960. After the boy finished sonar school she married him, Robert “Bob” Morgan on June 4, 1961, This June would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Diane had many personal hobbies and adventures. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, brother, and wife, white water rafting, camping with family and friends, horseback riding, listening to oldies music, relaxing on the beach and watching soap operas, and reading books. Dianes many adventures included land excursions and 13 cruises; her most favorite was Greece, Alaska, and Africa. Her favorite was shopping; if you didn’t keep an eye on her she would leave you and disappear,  finding the best deals or even talking people down until she got what she wanted was another of her thrills. She never was someone that would be sitting still and doing nothing.

Diane worked as a server at the famous Mills House Hotel in downtown Charleston, S.C. from 1970-2015. During her 45 years at the Mills House, Diane came in contact with all sorts of customers and many famous people.  She told many stories of her days at work and about all the co-workers she worked with and enjoyed being around.

Diane was predeceased by her parents Frank and Dottie Bliem and a son, Shawn Morgan. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Morgan, her brother Robert Bliem, his wife Joyce Bliem and family. Two children; Scott Morgan (son), and Shannon Adams (daughter) and Fur-babies (Lucky  (who was with her to the end) & Nakita). Four grandchildren; Stacy VanSpronsen, Scott (Scotty) Morgan, Samantha Harmening, and Shade Adams and their spouses. Six great-grandchildren: Makayla Leonard, Robert (Shawn) Harmening, Hannah Harmening, Merrick Leonard, Jacob Harmening, Caleb Harmening
