Dermot McGuire O'Leary, 18, of Isle Of Palms, South Carolina, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. His memorial service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 on the front beach at the VFW Post 3137, 1004 Ocean Blvd., Isle of Palms at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow. Arrangements by J. Dermot was born September 18, 1999 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of Patrick Joseph O'Leary and Elizabeth McGuire Clifton O'Leary and the brother of Erin and Declan. He grew up in Cheverly MD, before moving to South Carolina where he was a graduating senior at Wando High School. From an early age, Dermot loved nature and the outdoors, especially being on the water. He loved to hike, to kayak, surf and to explore the world around him. Dermot was also passionate about art and photography, with a keen eye for things that others might have missed. Dermot's friendships with others were at the center of his life. He touched people with his kindness, his sense of adventure, and his thoughtfulness. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, and his loss leaves us all with broken hearts.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he is survived by his maternal grandfather, Winston Clifton, paternal grandparents, Richard and Ursula O'Leary, uncle, Sean O'Leary (Dawn) and aunt Nancy Perros Caudill. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Patricia P. Clifton.
