Dennis Marvin Ward, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Frances Phelps Ward, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. The family will receive family and friends at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Saturday, October 3rd from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. Services and burial will follow Monday, October 5th, at 1 pm,at the Prospect Church, 1351 Makatoka Rd NW, Supply, NC.

Dennis was born November 7th, 1947 in Baltimore, MD and grew up on Sullivan's Island. Son of the late Ingram C. Ward and the late Marian Ward, he proudly owned and operated Low Country Home Furnishings on HWY 17 for 30+ years. He was very involved with the local business community, taking pride in the details of the explosive growth following the IOP Connector being opened. He had a map of Charleston County behind his desk, that he knew by heart and delivered to almost every neighborhood on it. He was so proud to be able to help his community rebuild especially after the devastation of Hurricane Hugo. He and Frances and the team at LCHF served generations of families, who knew and respected them as honest, reliable and always genuine. 

He took great pride in their dream home which they built together, almost four decades ago. He took much joy in always having the grass trimmed perfectly and the sidewalk cleaned immaculately to welcome the many guests they loved to host over the years. Always a stickler to details, Dennis would carefully stack all of the branches just so at the curbside for an easy quick pick-up. 

Dennis loved to travel and had priceless memories he loved to share from his stay in Germany, and trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and California. He also dearly loved the time he spent at the North Carolina house his father built for the Boy Scouts, and cherished the many memories he made there. Dennis was very thoughtful and always very helpful, never hesitating if he saw a need arise, usually with a Coke-Cola in hand! He will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him, especially his beloved "Fran" of Six Decades.

Dennis is survived by his son, Dennis Ward, Jr. (Cate Aubuchon) of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Carolyn Phelps, who he always took outstanding care of, never a better brother-in-law existed.
