Dennis Miller, 73, of Charleston, SC, entered peacefully into eternal rest Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held November 1, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in Lance Hall at Circular Congregational Church. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Dennis was born November 2, 1940 in Montour County, PA. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Penn State University and graduated in 1961. He was instrumental in starting Phi Kappa Tau chapter at the College of Charleston. Dennis also served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserves. Before moving to Charleston in 1974, he was employed by American Express in New York, Japan, and Vietnam. Dennis worked as an accountant at Stuhr Funeral Home and at Charleston Museum before opening Miller Accounting and Tax Service in Charleston. He was a founder and patron of Chamber Music Charleston and had the great pleasure of traveling to New York last year to see them play at Carnegie Hall. Dennis loved to travel and had an affinity for Japanese art and culture. He enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with his rescue dogs. He is remembered for his International Thanksgiving dinners, his domestic clutter, Sunday evening potlucks, and his generosity and wit.He is survived by his nephew Donald Rupp and grandniece, Chastity Rupp, and her daughter Brooklynn Rupp; nephew Keith Rupp (Sherry) and grandniece Emma; his beloved and faithful dog, Foxy; and many friends and clients who will miss him dearly.
