Dennis James Lee

July 21, 1946 — February 24, 2012

Dennis James Lee, retired local beverage distributor and sport fisherman, died February 24, 2012, following a prolonged illness. He was 65 years old.

Dennis was the son of the late Henry Joseph Lee, Sr. and Louise Hopke Lee. He leaves behind his wife, Karyn Sams Lee; a daughter, Alexis Lee Wilks and her husband Jonathan; a son, Parker Henry Lee; and a newborn granddaughter, Elouise Lee Wilks.

In addition to his presidency and ownership of Henry J. Lee Distributors, Mr. Lee was very active in numerous community and civic organizations. His participation included board chairmanship of the S.C. Beer Wholesalers Association, presidencies of the Executive Association of Greater Charleston and the Charleston Lions Club. He also was commodore of the Hobcaw Yacht Club. Other endeavors included membership in The Hibernian Society and participation in Operation Shipmate and Fishing for Miracles.

Mr. Lee received numerous national achievement awards as a top performing distributor from Miller Brewing Co. during his tenureship at Lee Distributors. He also served on advisory committees for Coors and Miller Brewing Companies.

Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 540 Calico Retreat in Mount Pleasant, SC. His funeral service will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul at 126 Coming Street, Charleston, SC on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621 or the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina, 3037 B. McNaughton Drive, Columbia, SC 29223.
