Dennis “Denny” Allen Sherrill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born April 19, 1944, in Gastonia, North Carolina, he was one of nine children born to Bill and Theresa Sherrill. Denny passed away on Isle of Palms, SC, on November 2, 2026 at 82 years of age.

Denny played baseball and football at the University of North Carolina. He received a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. He worked in pharmaceuticals for over 40 years for Johnson & Johnson and Gerimed. If he wasn’t working or in his den, he was on the golf course. He was an accomplished golfer, scoring seven holes-in-one throughout his lifetime.

Denny will be remembered for his strong and loving nature. He loved giving gifts and taking care of people, always going above and beyond to bless others. While he was Dennis to his brothers and sisters, and Denny to his peers and coworkers, he will always affectionately be known as Big D by his kids and grandkids!

Denny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Sherrill; his children Matthew and Denise Sherrill, Morgan and Brian Mayfield; his Grandchildren Libby Ann and Eli Boydstun, Nate Mayfield, Brody Sherrill, Rhett Sherrill, and Payton Sherrill; and his siblings Kohn Sherrill, Myra Hudson, Martha Price, and Hope Kizer.
