Denise Ann Milleman, 70, of Johns Island, SC, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 27, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the youngest daughter of the late Aloysius "Ollie" and Jo Ann Futa. After meeting at Purdue University, Denise married the love of her life, Brian Milleman, on July 23, 1977. Denise was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted mother to four children who filled their home with unconditional love and support. After moving their family across the country in the early days of their marriage, she balanced the demands of raising four children while building the family business alongside Brian with remarkable love and determination.
As the cherished family matriarch and beloved "GiGi" to her six grandchildren, Denise had a special gift for bringing her family together. Whether it was Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a Clemson football game, she made every occasion extra special and filled with love. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and will be fondly remembered for giving the most thoughtful gifts. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed puttering in her garden, taking walks with her dog Axel, decorating her year-round Christmas trees, and shopping a good Lilly Pulitzer sale.
Denise was known for her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for God, which she demonstrated until her final moments as she valiantly battled pancreatic cancer. Her legacy of love, strength, and enduring devotion to Jesus Christ will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Brian Milleman; four children: Danny Milleman (Ashton), Sammy Milleman (Lauren), Shaina Davis (Pat), and Sasha Perez (Edgar); six grandchildren: Bailey, Caleb, Ava, Remi, Itzel, and Simon; and siblings: Mike Futa (Judy) and Mary Jo Filipek (Ken).
In addition to her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her newborn daughter, Angela Marie Milleman.
Phillipians 4:13, a verse that guided Denise through much of her life, reminds us: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. The family wishes to thank all those who offered prayers, love, and support as she fought cancer like a champion. We are thankful she is with our Lord and Savior and is no longer suffering.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Operation Christmas Child in Denise's memory, honoring her love for children and the Christmas season. Donations can be made at samaritanspurse.org or mailed to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
