Denarda Gillikin White, 68, wife of the late Gary Farrell White of McClellanville, entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, October 11, 2012. The relatives and friends of Denie White are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, October 15, 2012 in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church, McClellanville, SC at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
Denie was born on January 17, 1944 in Beaufort, North Carolina, daughter of the late Denard McDonald Gillikin "Captain Mac" and Delores "Pat" Doyle Gillikin. Miss Denie as she was known to all who loved her, was a long-time member of the New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church in McClellanville, SC. She was active in village life, particularly with the Archibald Rutledge Academy and the McClellanville Shrimp Festival. A doting grandmother, Denie loved nothing more than to be with her seven grandchildren; Victoria White, Tyler Furches, John Ashton, Caroline and Scott White, Jessica and Patrick Lee.
She is survived by her four children; daughter, Joeanne White Leake and her husband, Larry, of Summerville, SC, son, Gary Farrell White, Jr. and his wife, Judy, son, Jefferson Scott White and his wife, Mathilde, all of Mount Pleasant, SC, son, Cameron Farrell White of Charleston, SC, son-in-law, Richard Furches, two sisters; Shannon Spach and her husband, James, Pam Rector and her husband, Warren, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Denie was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Mary Frances White Furches.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Charleston, 4975 Lacross Road, Suite 200, North Charleston, SC 29406-6531.
