Demetrios Gregory "Jimmy" Diasourakis died peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the age of 88.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time with the Trisagion service being held at 10:00 a.m.
Mr. Diasourakis was born August 7, 1925 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Gregory Demetrios Diasourakis and Sophia Theoharides Diasourakis both of Greece. He was a graduate of the High School of Charleston and served in the US Coast Guard. He retired as the National Advertising Manager of the Post and Courier, having served for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kiki Angelos Slemp Diasourakis of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Sofia D. Means and her husband, Charles, of Charleston, SC; three step daughters, Frona S. Bruggemann of Charleston, SC, Naki S. Godfrey and her husband, Charles, of Skippack, PA and Nickole S. Samios and her husband, David, of Summerville SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brad (Rachael) Bruggemann, Chase Godfrey, Brooke Bruggemann, Nick Samios, Elaina Samios and Alex Samios; and one great-grandson, Maximus C. Bruggemann. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Haynes Diasourakis.
