Dolores L. Maher

Dolores L. Maher, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of the late Dr. Francis Langford Maher entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 30, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 in the Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive at 10:30 am. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 3, 2023  in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd. from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm. She will be interred with her late husband Dr. Francis Maher in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island, NY at a later date. 

Dolores was born May 4, 1934 in South Ozone Park, New York, daughter of the late James Aloysius Brown and the late Mary Banks Brown. She graduated in 1954 from Flushing Hospital School of Nursing, Flushing, NY, and was a pediatric nurse at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, NY. Dolores enjoyed the many places her husband's career took them, including Japan from 1960-63 and also Bethesda, MD and Coram, NY.

She is survived by daughter, Jeannine Sorensen (John) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Edward Maher (Gena) of Summerville, SC, Robert Maher (Nikki) of Shrewsbury, MA; brother-in-law, Francis Downes of Black Canyon City, AR; nine grandchildren, Briana Lunn-Maher, Brendan Lunn, Kieran Maher, Patrick Sorensen, Rebecca Turbeville (Scott), Liam Maher, Evan Maher, Olivia Maher, Kristin Maher; and two great grand children, Jonathan David Turbeville and Victoria Turbeville. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Downes.
